Today I am going to talk about the Felix Hoffman who was a German pharmacist who in 1897 was able to synthesize in a pure form acetylsalicylic acid, which became the active substance in Aspirin.

Felix Hoffman was born on January 21, 1868 in Ludwigsburg and died on February 8, 1946 in Switzerland.

In 1891 he graduated from the University of Munich. Two years later he received his doctorate. On the recommendation of the eventual Nobel Prize winner Professor Adolf von Baeyer he joined "Farbenfabriken vorm. Friedr. Bayer & Co." in 1894 to work as a chemist, in the chemical laboratory.

The reason I admire him is because one of the motivations for synthesizing the drug was to relieve his father's arthritis.

The contribution of obtaining acetylsalicylic acid in a pure form was relevant to form the medicine that is part of our lives and the most consumed in the world, which is aspirin.

How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place

Everyone has been sick sometime during his life and when it happens it is always important to have a medicine at home to treat the disease, that is why chemistry and pharmacy affects mainly in the world in the area of health because it is oriented towards the study, development and application of drugs, and also a knowledge of their beneficial effects as well as toxic effects to human and animal health.

The career has several areas of work, the pharmaceutical chemist can work in pharmacies, clinics, pharmaceutical laboratories, university teaching and also in the development of cosmetics, among others.

Personally, I would like to work in a pharmacy, dispensing medicines.

Chemistry and pharmacy contribute to improve the health of people and animals, elaborating, dispensing or administering medicines every day and one of the most important things of the career is to be able to teach other people how to use medicines correctly.

A Meal Or Food You Really Like

Hello again!

My favorite food is fish, like salmon. although I personally like all the food that comes from the sea.

To start cooking the salmon you just need to put a little olive oil and a generous amount of butter in a frying pan, then you put the salmon on the skin side over medium high heat, add salt and pepper and turn it over. Finally you add a little lemon juice and it´s done! you can use rice or noodles to accompany the salmon.

The salmon for me is easy to cook because if you leave it a little raw you can still eat it after all in the sushi you can eat the salmon raw.

I like salmon very much for its taste and for its softness unlike when I cook meat a little tough and dry.

Salmon is one of the fish that contains a lot of omega 3 which is very good for the heart and health and I was told when I was a child that it is also good for the intelligence.

My Favourite Piece Of Technology

 Hello everyone!

My favourite piece of technology is a Smarthone Huawei because the smartphones have a lot uses and its size is adequate for keep in my bag.

For example, with the smarthone you can play fun games, you can study, found important or curious information in the web, or listen your favourite music in any places. Also you can contact your family using whatsapp when you are far away.

In my life when I´m stressed I found a place for sit down and use the smartphone for read or play something funny or cute, and finally i relax.

I recommend the use of smarthphone with care because if you see the screen for a long time with a strong light of the smartphone you may begin have problems with your vision.

Why did I choose my major?

Hello again!

My dream job as a child was something related to draw because i enjoy the colors and things new that created, but it is not easy to work drawing so I thought in other thing.

Then in high school I wanted to study something related with math, chemistry or biology but I didn't have a career in particular in mind.

In the last moment after doing the PTU I decided for a career of chemistry and pharmacy because my neighbor work in that. She talk to me about the professions related to chemistry or biology and finally she recommended chemistry and pharmacy.

I didn't have other options, only Chemistry and pharmacy. :)

My experience at the university is ok, I think that study hard and make an effort to pass the year is good. 

Who Am I?

 

Hello everyone! My name is Paz Castro and I am university student at Universidad de Chile studying Chemistry and Pharmacy. I am from San Bernardo in Santiago, Chile. I like reading web novels and drawing, I also like to eat fish, pizza and Chinese food. On vacations with my family we go to the countryside and visited my grandparents. My parents have a farm, they have a lots of cows.

I live with my parents and two sisters, older sister and a twin. Also we have a lot animals in our house, for example, eight birds, one rabbit, three chickens, two guinea pigs and two dogs, Pelusa and Chester.

In my hometown is the Cerro Chena park that is a good place to walk and enjoy the view in the top of the montain.
